Command Sergeant Major Marvin R. Jack
State Command Sergeant Major
Washington Army National Guard
Dear Marv,
Thirty-six years of soldiering and commitment to soldiers, its been a grand and fulfilling journey. You have come a long way from the Tuesday night drill you attended with your brother to this Saturday night event with your friends. Through the entire journey, you have always displayed exceptional professionalism and both commitment and dedication to the soldiers you have served.
I recall the first time that I met you, you were a member of the 1st Battalion 161st Infantry and I was a member of the 1st Battalion 303d Armor. I was impressed with your soldier skills, your professionalism and your dedication to the soldiers you served with - I envied the officers and the soldiers of that battalion.
I remember the pride I felt when you and I served together in the 81st Infantry Brigade, and the pride and regret I felt when you left to become the State Command Sergeant Major for the Washington Army National Guard. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to have served with you these past three years, and it is again with both pride and regret that I see you leave one more time.
CSM Jack, I followed you to the 81st Bde, the State Headquarters, and will follow you back to the civilian world. You have always and always will continue to lead the way. You have been a true professional and a great friend. And I say with pride that I have served with one of the best soldiers in the Army.
CSM Jack, on the occasion of your retirement, and on behalf of the soldiers of the Washington Army National Guard, please accept this coin.
Good luck, Marv. God speed and God bless.
Sincerely,
Lee S. Legowik
