First Lieutenant (1LT)

As a First Lieutenant, you may continue to serve as a platoon leader or you may serve in an XO position or Staff Officer position. At times, a senior First Lieutenant will serve as a Company Commander.

Assignment duties: As an Executive Officer, you are the second in command and responsible for writing company operation orders and keeping your higher headquarters informed about operations and training issues. You will work closely with the Company Commander, First Sergeant, and Platoon Leaders.

As a Staff Officer, you will work with the Battalion or Brigade Staff writing operation orders and participating in the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP). Your expertise as a military intelligence officer will be utilized for intelligence analysis and support to the Commanders and the mission.
